Hair Cuts All Around

The girls got their hair cut this week....well, Allison got a trim. Leah's is more of a bob now and Rachel's is shorter, making her look older. Below are some pics.

What a Day!

I am glad that Monday is almost over! I took Allison and Leah to school at 7:45am, took Rachel to school at 8:00am, drove back to Allison's and Leah's school to volunteer in Allison's class at 8:30am, left their school to go pick up Rachel at 9:15am, back to Allison's and Leah's school to pick up Leah at 9:30am, took both girls to the dentist at 10:00am, ran home and fed Leah and Rachel lunch at 11:00am, and then took Leah back to school at 11:40am. I decided not to take Rachel back to her school because I would have to pick her up just 30 minutes later. Rachel and I went to downtown Melbourne to get Rachel's glasses fixed at 12:15pm (not a convenient place, but the only place in town to get Rachel glasses small enough to fit her face), stopped and got my oil changed at 12:30pm, went to the grocery store at 1:00, got home at 2:15pm, put away the groceries, cleaned up the breakfast and lunch dishes, and then the kids came thru the door. Fortunately, they did not have a lot of homework. I am tired. At least now I have something to fix for dinner tonight and will have something to pack in the girls' lunchboxes.

Forgot to mention........in the pictures of Rachel, the beautiful golden retriever puppy in the picture with Rachel is NOT ours-thank goodness. Her name is Sophie and she belongs to Allison's friend. Since Jake died in March the girls have been hounding me (pardon the pun) to get another dog. I just cannot bring myself to accept the responsibility of a new dog. I would like to have one, but I don't want to have to deal with whatever psychotic behavior it will have (because every pet I get is psychotic!) and I don't want to have to clean up after it! I clean up enough kitty puke as it is with Conan around. By the way, the trim we gave him seems to have helped the shedding and he has not thrown up too much since then. He is starting to shed again, so I guess it is time to for him to get another trim. Maybe we can do better this time.

Back Into The Groove

Where does the time go? It seems that I just got home from Texas, but now the week is over. Well, Monday was used up traveling. I got to the airport in Dallas-Fort Worth at 2:00pm and arrived in Orlando at 12:30am. I got home about 2:00am. I slept in as late as I could Tuesday morning, but that was only til 6:30am. Boy, was I tired Tuesday. I felt like I did in the days of working the night shift!

I had to get back into the routine though, so I spent Tuesday changing beds, washing sheets, watering plants, and picking up the house. Mike and the girls actually had kept the house pretty straight while I was gone, thank goodness. Wednesday, I had to volunteer in Allison's classroom. It was fun, because I got a chance to work with the kids. It usually only involves cutting, copying, etc. for the teacher. After coming home from the school, I had to start washing clothes. Thursday, I had to go have a mammogram and dexa scan done. I learned that you get lots of free stuff if you get a mammogram done in October because it is breast cancer awareness month. The mammogram was a routine check up and the dexa scan was a follow up to the ones I had done a few years ago that showed I had decreased bone density. I am a terrible patient. Despite being at risk for osteoporosis, I have stopped taking the calcium supplements. Why? I have no idea.........I was doing good for several years and then just got out of the habit. I bought some supplements a few months ago, and told myself I was going to start taking them again. They are still sitting on my kitchen counter. I really need to get back into that habit. Anyway, the rest of Thursday was spent washing and folding clothes. Finally got all of that done Thursday evening. Today, Rachel stayed home from school. She had a bout of diarrhea last night, so I decided to keep her home. She has been fine today. Maybe just too much juice the last couple of days. Mike said he gave her juice everyday that I was gone, and I don't usually let her do that.

Tomorrow morning is Rachel's horse back riding session. She seems to be enjoying that. Throughout the week she will say, "horsey?" I guess she is asking when she will be going back to ride the horse. At least that is what I think she is saying. It would be terrible if she was begging me to never take her to see the horse again!! No, just kidding, she really gets excited on Saturday mornings when I tell her she is going to see the horse. After the horseback riding I need to get busy running some errands. My van is yelling at me to get the oil changed and I need to run by Target to pick up some prescriptions. I am already psyching myself up to walk in, pick up the meds, and walk out. I always get side tracked in there and spend money I did not need to spend. I am going to do my best to stay out of the "Target Zone."

Good Friends

I have been very fortunate this month to get a chance to visit with lots of great friends! At the first of September I went home to Alabama to visit with college friends. You can see those pictures in previous posts. The last weekend of September, I went back to Texas-my home for seven years. This was a neat trip in that I got to visit friends from my Seacamp days in '88 and '89 and my former coworkers and friends from the hospital where I worked from '97-'02. My Seacamp friends live in Oregon and California, so needless to say, we do not get to see one another nearly as often as we would like. I feel so lucky to have so many wonderful friends. I had a great time visiting with everyone, of course the visits were not long enough. The Texas trip was nice in that I left the girls home in Florida with Mike, so it was a little vacation for me-yea!! Below are some pictures from my Texas trip. It looks like I partied all weekend...........when I stop and think about it, I guess I did.
